TeePublic Code Not Working? Nine Fixes
A code that refuses to apply is maddening, but it's rarely a mystery. Almost every TeePublic rejection traces back to one of nine causes, and most take seconds to fix. Work down this checklist in order and you'll clear the great majority of them without giving up on the discount.
1. You're under the minimum spend
Many codes need a qualifying subtotal. If your cart sits below it, the code simply won't apply. Add a low-cost item like a sticker to clear the line, or check the card for the exact minimum before you count on the code.
2. A clearance or sale item is excluded
Plenty of codes apply to full-price items only and quietly skip clearance. If your cart mixes both, the discount may refuse or apply to only part of it. Pull the clearance item into a separate order and try again.
3. The code is product-specific
Some codes only touch a category — apparel, stickers, or prints. If your cart is the wrong type, nothing happens. Re-read the card to confirm the code matches what's actually in your basket.
4. It has expired or hit its cap
Codes expire, and some carry a redemption limit. Check the last-verified timestamp on our card and lead with the higher-scoring codes, which we re-test most often.
5. A copy-paste slip
A trailing space or the wrong capitalisation is the most common culprit of all. Re-copy the code cleanly from the card, paste it fresh, and make sure nothing extra tagged along.
6. You're trying to stack two codes
Checkout takes one code per order. If you already have a code in and add a second, the first usually drops. Use a single code and let sales, shipping and credit do the rest of the work.
7. The deal is a sale, not a code
BOGO and sitewide sales apply automatically — there's nothing to type. If you're pasting a 'code' for one of those, that's why it does nothing. Just build the cart and let the deal land.
8. Wrong order of operations
If a flat-dollar code pulled your subtotal under the free-shipping line, the shipping fee returns and the 'saving' shrinks. Clear the threshold first, then apply the code, then re-check the totals.
9. Still stuck? Switch the offer
If a code genuinely won't cooperate, don't force it — grab a no-code deal from the list, wait for the next sitewide sale, or check back after our next update. Something on the board will fit your cart.
